Avoid Disaster by Remembering These Essential Camping Items

Camping is one of the most popular activities in America right now– with 81% reporting that they are planning to go on three or more camping trips within the next year. Of course, when you plan a camping trip, you want it to be as successful as possible. Whether you’re going with friends or family, you want this trip to be something everyone will remember. There are some essential items that can help ensure that things won’t be a disaster, so read on for a few things you should remember!

The first thing you absolutely must remember is the cooler. Any outdoor event requires a cooler to make sure food doesn’t spoil, so it should go without saying that they’re absolutely necessary for camping. Make sure you invest in a heavy duty one if you’re camping in bear country– products are bear-proof if they can survive 60 minutes of contact time with a bear.

The next thing should be painfully obvious, but it’s for that reason it should be included in the list: a tent! Since it seems so obvious, you’d be surprised at how many people think that they won’t forget it because it’s so obvious and wind up forgetting it anyway because of their certainty.

Finally, remember a first aid kit! Whether you’re hunting or fishing, like 38 million other Americans, or hiking, or swimming, injuries happen. Be prepared for bites, infections, cuts and burns at least. Read up on some of the most common camping injuries, and try to be prepared for almost anything until you can get to better care. Safety first should always be your first tip!
