Don’t Forget This Essential Adventure Gear for Your Big Outdoor Trips This Summer

Camping needs

Each year, millions of Americans head outside, especially during the warmest weather, to enjoy activities ranging from camping and hiking to swimming, scuba diving, fishing, and more. However, not everyone knows what to pack for these outdoor adventures, and with some activities it can be easy to choose the wrong items. This can result in anything from discomfort while hiking or mountain climbing to serious hazards while participating in activities like scuba diving or hunting.

So what kind of adventure gear might you need this summer? Here are three types of supplies you won’t want to leave home without when you head into the outdoors this season:

Hiking Gear

Each year, more than 38 million people in the United States go hiking. However, there’s a good chance that many of them do so without proper safety equipment, and you may be one of them. Having a good pair of boots, for instance, is a must-have before going out into the wilderness. Hikers should also make sure they are dressed appropriately for the weather by wearing loose fitting clothing that is not too dark in color, so they don’t get overheated in direct sunlight.

Scuba Gear

Most people only think of adventure gear as the stuff you wear while hiking. While this is a big part of this category, there are other activities that require their own supplies. For example, scuba diving require scuba gear and equipment for divers to stay safe. Scuba gear includes wet suits, goggles and masks, and flippers; for safety, scuba diving equipment such as oxygen tanks and safety vests are required. If you’ve never been scuba diving before, make sure to ask an expert at a sporting goods store about what you’ll need.

Hunting Gear

Most people know to wear camouflage when they go hunting, but that often isn’t enough. Although you want to be hidden from prey, you’ll also need to be visible if there are other hunters around. Clothing should have fluorescent orange on it. Additionally, hunters should make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Wear thicker materials when it’s cold, and when it’s warm, choose something lightweight.
