Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get your pool in top-tip shape! After all, there’s no better way to beat the heat during the dog days of summer than by taking a cool dip in the pool. However, no one will be able to enjoy your pool if it isn’t properly and regularly maintained.

Pools can provide countless hours of beauty — think mood, color LED lighting or lavish waterfall pumps —, entertainment, and fun, however, they also require equal amounts of maintenance. In fact, without regular maintenance, you could be cutting the life of your pool in half. Now that spring is just about here, it’s time to begin getting your pool ready for warmer weather.

While the farthest thing from most people’s minds during the winter is taking a dip in their pool, pool chemistry and still needs to be checked during this time. It’s recommended to check pool chemistry at least once a week during the winter and up to two or three times per week during the summer. Failure to do so can turn your pool water green in as little as two to three weeks, which means no will be able to enjoy the color LED lighting, let alone the pool itself!

Now is also a good time to begin stocking up on swimming pool products and checking all of your pool’s components, such as the pool lighting and pool water pumps. By checking all your pool’s systems, you’ll be able to identify and address any potential issues before they become too problematic.

It may be helpful to create a pool maintenance checklist or calendar in order to stay organized. For example, you can include dates for when to check the water level, when to check the chemistry, and when to replace the lighting.
